About Qnest

What this site is

Qnest is an independent knowledge base about ageing well at home. It collects practical, plain-language articles and community questions on the everyday problems that come with getting older — and with caring for someone who is.

We are not a clinic, a hospital, an insurer or a government agency. We do not sell care, and we do not accept payment in exchange for a favourable write-up. Our only product is readable information.

Who it is for

Two groups, equally important:

  • Older adults who want to understand a symptom, a medication, a test or a benefit before they talk to a professional.
  • Family caregivers — spouses, adult children, neighbours — who are making decisions for someone else and often doing it without training.

What we cover

  • Healthy ageing and chronic conditions — heart and lung health, diabetes, arthritis, dementia and memory, vision and hearing, sleep, nutrition, screening schedules.
  • Caregiving at home — daily assistance, mobility and fall prevention, medication management, home safety and modifications, respite and burnout.
  • Paying for care — insurance basics, Medicare and Medicaid concepts, retirement income, estate paperwork, and the fraud schemes that target older people.
  • Home and daily living — kitchens, cleaning, repairs and household routines adapted to reduced strength, reach or vision.

How our content is produced

Every page follows the same pipeline, described in full in our Editorial Policy:

  1. Topic selection from the questions readers and caregivers actually ask.
  2. Source gathering from public health bodies and peer-reviewed literature (see the source list in the policy).
  3. A first draft produced with AI assistance, then edited for plain language and structure.
  4. A factual and safety review pass before publication, and a re-check when the underlying guidance changes.
  5. Ongoing correction: errors reported by readers are treated as the highest-priority work on the site.
We state this plainly because it matters: our drafts are AI-assisted and human-reviewed. We do not claim that a licensed physician writes or signs off every page, and we do not invent reviewer names to look more authoritative than we are.

What we are not

Nothing here is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and nothing here creates a professional relationship. If you are deciding about a medication, a procedure or an emergency, contact a clinician — see the Medical Disclaimer for the full statement.

Where our pages describe dosages, timelines or thresholds, they summarise published guidance for general readers. Your own clinician may give you different numbers, and theirs take precedence.

Independence and funding

The site is operated independently by its publisher. Pages may carry advertising or sponsored placements; these are labelled and kept separate from editorial content. Advertisers have no input into what we write or how we rate it — see the advertising section of the Editorial Policy.
